Pastor Brad married Leticia Flores May 24, 2014 expanding his understanding of family ministry in a beautiful way! When he married, he became the father of 4 awesome kids; two 9 year old twin boys, a 21 year old daughter, and a 27 year old daughter and son inlaw. In July 2015 they were blessed with a grandson and now a granddaughter.
Pastor Brad was born into a pastor's family and started preaching while in high school. After graduating he joined the army and served in Germany. He later went to Butler County Community College in Eldorado, Kansas on a track and cross-country scholarship. Then he went through ministry training at Church On The Rock in Rockwall, Texas while working at various jobs and starting small businesses. Later he went to the University Of Nebraska At Omaha majoring in political science and international relations.
Pastor Brad has been involved in four church plants. Two with his dad, Al Burkes of Omaha, Nebraska and two as the founding pastor.
Embassy Of The Spirit
Faith is more than what happens at church. It's a part of who we are, inside and out. At Embassy Of The Spirit, we believe in sharing the joy of the Gospels daily, and living a life that embodies the Spirit of Christ.
We are a non-denominational Bible based Christian church. If we do not find it in the Bible we do not emphasize it. Almost every sermon is a Bible study. The Bible is God's word to us! My comments may be imperfect, but when I am reading directly from scripture, that part is perfect!
We do everything bilingual, true to the vision God gave to start this church. Pastor Brad preaches in English with an interpreter standing next to him giving the Spanish. We sing the songs in both English and Spanish. Everyone hears both English and Spanish allowing mixed families to each hear God's Word in their own language while learning the language of family members.
WE HAVE A CLASS FOR THE CHILDREN WHILE PASTOR BRAD SPEAKS TO THE ADULTS
The children participate in the praise and worship with the congregation and then go to their class.
Pastor Al Burkes of Omaha, Nebraska is Pastor Brad's dad and overseer. He pastors Glory Mountain Fellowship and is part of Faith Christian Fellowship. Pastor Brad participates in The Brownsville Ministerial Association and fellowships with other local pastors staying connected to the larger Body Of Christ.
Bilingual Church
Pastor Brad is the City Chaplain of Brownsville. He schedules the pastors who do the opening prayers (invocations) at the city commission meetings and is available to minister when needed at other events and for personal ministry.
He also serves on Texas Governor Gregg Abbott's Minister's Council.
